Republicans Lead First Day of Early Voting in Putnam County
According to the Putnam County Election Commission’s daily report for July 17, a total of 899 voters participated. Of those, 688 selected a Republican ballot, 196 selected a Democratic ballot and 15 had no party listed on the report.
Republican ballots outnumbered Democratic ballots in 10 of the county’s 12 commission districts. District 3 was the only district in which Democratic ballots led, with nine Democratic ballots and eight Republican ballots.
By the District
District 1: Recorded the county’s highest opening-day turnout with 132 voters, including 93 Republican ballots, 33 Democratic ballots and six with no party shown.
District 2: Had 86 voters, with Republicans leading 50 to 35. Its 15-ballot margin was the narrowest Republican advantage among the districts carried by Republicans.
District 3: Had the county’s lowest turnout with 17 voters and was the only district where Democratic ballots led, nine to eight.
District 4: Reported 47 voters, with 41 Republican ballots, five Democratic ballots and one with no party shown, producing one of the strongest Republican percentages of the day.
District 5: Recorded 71 voters and the highest Republican share among ballots marked by party, with Republicans leading 63 to seven.
District 6: Had 79 voters, including 56 Republican ballots, 22 Democratic ballots and one with no party shown.
District 7: Posted the second-highest turnout with 101 voters and the county’s largest Republican margin, 84 to 15, with two ballots showing no party.
District 8: Recorded 54 voters, with Republicans leading 45 to eight and one ballot showing no party.
District 9: Had 81 voters, with Republican ballots outnumbering Democratic ballots 69 to 12.
District 10: Recorded 58 voters, including 46 Republican ballots and 12 Democratic ballots.
District 11: Had 74 voters, with Republicans leading 56 to 18.
District 12: Posted the county’s third-highest turnout with 99 voters, including 77 Republican ballots, 20 Democratic ballots and two with no party shown.
