HOAX SCHOOL THREATS
PUTNAM COUNTY, TN— As of 10:30 AM, there are 8 Putnam County Schools that have been placed
on lockdown today following multiple false threat calls received throughout Putnam County.
These schools include Upperman High School, Upperman Middle School, Capshaw Elementary, White
Plains Academy, Jere Whitson Elementary, and Highland Rim Academy. It also includes Cane Creek
Elementary and Cookeville High School from earlier this morning.
These calls are coming in from the same individual, as all prior calls, either threatening that there are
bombs placed or armed individuals inside the school buildings.
All threats are being taken seriously and throughly investigated.
PCSO Deputies and local agencies are responding to clear each building and ensure there is no threat.
Deputies and Officers are also increasing patrols and security presence at schools that have not received
these calls as a precaution.
Sheriff Farris said, “We are treating every threat seriously and will continue working alongside our
local, state, and federal partners to investigate these threats. We will pursue whoever is responsible for
these threats to the fullest extent of the law.”
