MONTEREY CHAPEL - Funeral services for Jimmy Alexander Holloway, age 78, lifelong resident of the Calfkiller Community, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday April 30 from the chapel of Horner Funeral Home in Monterey. Bro. Tim Singleton and Bro. Darrell Billings will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Bohannon Cemetery in the Calfkiller Community. Visitation for friends and family will be Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 10 - 11 a.m.
Jimmy passed away Monday April 27, 2026 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born December 11th 1947 in Monterey, Tennessee to the late George and Margie Holloway.
Jimmy proudly served our great country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. His commitment to duty and sacrifice was a testament to his strong character and unwavering sense of responsibility.
Jimmy enjoyed working the farm that had been nurtured by his family for many years. As an avid farmer, he worked tirelessly on this land, honoring the legacy of those who came before him. Alongside his dedication to farming, he loved to hunt and fish. Jimmy also dedicated over thirty years of his life to Harris Metals, where his steadfast work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and friends. His strength and perseverance defined him both on the farm and in the workplace.
Jimmy was a member of the Verble Baptist Church and found great comfort and purpose in his faith.
He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Helen Dunn Holloway of Monterey; two daughters, Lawuanna (Andy) Hitchcock of Cookeville, Kara (Josh) Phillips of Monterey; grandchildren, Jacob Phillips, Madison Phillips, and Mackenzie Hitchcock; brother, Leroy (Katherine) Holloway of Jackson County; sister, Brenda (Steve) Bullock of Monterey;brother in law, Clay (Judy) Dunn, sister in law, Dean (Jerry) Hutchison and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Linda and Roland Phillips.
