These warrants are obtained through the Putnam County Circuit Court Clerk’s office and includes arrests from Algood, Cookeville, Baxter and Monterey police, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and other local law enforcement agencies. Arrests do not always lead to conviction, as that is up to the courts to decide. You will also see bond or bail amounts listed, when available. Bail is money or property forfeited to the court if an accused individual fails to appear for trial. A judge makes the ultimate determination as to whether an individual can be released on bail and how much that bail amount is. A bond is an agreement between the court and a defendant that secures the release of the defendant before trial and includes several types, such as secured and unsecured bonds, partially-secured bonds, percentage bonds and surety bonds. A judge makes the ultimate determination of what terms are outlined in the bond agreement. Each amount differs by jurisdiction.
