ARREST MADE FOR 1ST DEGREE MURDER IN MISSING PERSON CASE
PUTNAM COUNTY, TN—At approximately noon on Wednesday, March 25, PCSO received a report
regarding a missing person, Samantha Goolsby. A family member had reported her missing after she
failed to come home the night prior.
At approximately 4:16 pm on Wednesday, March 25, PCSO received a call from a home owner on Phy
Rd, stating that they had found a partially concealed body in the wood line on their property. PCSO
Deputies and Investigators responded to the scene and observed that the body matched the description of
Ms. Goolsby.
The investigation revealed that a domestic dispute had taken place in the morning of Tuesday, March 24,
that resulted in the arrest of Lora Morgan, who confessed to shooting and killing Samantha Goolsby.
Lora Morgan, 57 years of age, was taken into custody and charged with 1st Degree Murder, Abuse of
Corpse, and Fabricating/Tampering with Evidence. Morgan has a bond set at $820,000 and a court date
of April 20, 2026.
