March 21, 2026
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Cookeville City Councilman Chad Gilbert today announced his candidacy for re-election
to the Cookeville City Council in the August 6 municipal election, pledging to continue his focus on fiscal
stewardship, responsible growth and preserving the quality of life that makes Cookeville one of Tennessee’s most
desirable communities.
Gilbert said his decision to seek another term comes at a pivotal time as Cookeville continues to experience strong
economic growth and new opportunities.
“Cookeville is a special place and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made together,” Gilbert said. “As our community
continues to grow, we have a responsibility to plan wisely, invest strategically and ensure Cookeville remains a
place where families and businesses can succeed and build a strong future.”
During his time on the City Council, Gilbert has supported policies focused on public safety, strong financial
management and investments in infrastructure and city services. He has also prioritized strengthening partnerships
between the City, local businesses and Tennessee Tech University.
“As Cookeville continues to grow, thoughtful planning and making smart financial decisions is more important than
ever,” Gilbert said. “We must continue investing in the infrastructure and services our citizens rely on while
ensuring taxpayer dollars are used responsibly.”
“I’m excited about the momentum we’ve built and the opportunities ahead.” He added “By continuing to work
together, we can ensure Cookeville’s best days are still ahead.”
Gilbert emphasized that Cookeville’s continued success depends on collaboration among city leadership, business
owners, educators and residents.
“The best decisions come from listening to our citizens and working together to solve problems.” Gilbert said. “ I’m
grateful for the opportunity to serve and would be honored to continue representing the people of Cookeville.”
Chad Gilbert is a Cookeville native and an engineering graduate of Tennessee Tech University. He and his wife,
Anna, have three adult children - Riley, Ali Jane and Cooper - who are all young professionals in the area.
Gilbert will officially launch his re-election campaign, with a kickoff event open to the public at Seven Senses
