Jax Leatherwood Named Tennessee Sports Writers Association College Football Player of the Week

The Tennessee Sports Writers Association named Jax Leatherwood the College Football Player of the Week on Tuesday, September 29.

Putting together a career day in a come-from-behind victory at Wofford on Saturday, Leatherwood unleashed 427 yards and five touchdowns in the win. His 427 yards rank third for a single-game passing yards.

Going 38-of-46, His 38 completions, 427 passing yards, and five touchdowns all marked new career-highs for the veteran signal-caller.

Connecting with 12 receivers against Wofford, he went a perfect 9-of-9 with Eric Weatherly, who finished with 100 yards and two of Leatherwood's five TDs. 10 of his 12 receivers hauled in multiple passes while four caught four or more.

Three of his five touchdowns came in the final quarter of action, helping the Golden Eagles outscore the Terriers 21-3. He went 15-of-18 for 143 yards in the fourth quarter.
