Two juveniles unhurt as rescue continues at Bee Rock
Two juveniles who were hiking at Bee Rock could not climb back up from a steep, rocky area, Monterey Police Chief John Mackie told Highlands Insider Saturday evening. He said neither juvenile was hurt.
Bee Rock is a rugged area with steep terrain that can become especially dangerous when hikers lose their footing or are unable to safely retrace their route.
Multiple agencies are assisting with the rescue, and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is also on the scene.
Mackie said he could provide no further details because those involved are juveniles. The Monterey Police Department is asking the public to stay away from Bee Rock until further notice.
